Blog 354: Cheering You On When You Lose

Who is waiting at the finish line when you don’t win? Especially when you don’t win.

Certainly not the fair-weather fan who shows up for the playoffs and remains interested so long as you keep winning. I’m talking about the fans in it for your effort, passion, and persistence.

I thought about this the other day while walking through Pearson Airport in Toronto. The Blue Jays had just been eliminated from the MLB playoffs, their season was over, and the shop at the airport that sells sports caps and jerseys was moving all the baseball stuff out and all the Toronto Maple Leaf hockey stuff in.

This got me thinking about you.

Nothing is more important to someone trying to make a point through their work than a fan who is in it for your effort and not the win.

Thanks for being there. Always.
